52nd Big Rock Enters Final Day
This morning as the final day of the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament got underway, 119-of-156 boats in the competition still have a chance to affect the final standings.
Since 37 boats are fished out, some of our current leaders must wait at the docks to see if their leads can stand up one more day. Many divisional leads were tenuous as the final six hours of fishing began. Read more »
Wet-N-Wild Lands Third Place with 460-Pound Blue Marlin
Wet-N-Wild, a boat captained by Tony Ross of Beaufort, experienced a day offshore much like it’s name.
Ross and crew took over third place in the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament when they arrived at the scales Friday afternoon with a 460-pound catch reeled in by Joseph Engleby of Nazareth, Pa. Ross, who grew up in the Big Rock’s backyard always dreamed of fishing in this event. Now he has the Wet-N-Wild team in position to win $144,380. Read more »

The fifth day of competition for the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament has 142 of the 155 eligible boats fishing. That means 36 of Friday’s competitors are fishing their final day and 119 boats will be eligible to fish Saturday.
“I expect a really exciting finish.” said Big Rock president Randy Ramsey. “The captains are getting on the fish. They’re getting on a rhythm of where fish are feeding. You put a big fleet out there and they will have a real opportunity to find them.” Read more »
Big Rock Fishing Heats Up
The start of the second half of the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament invigorated many of the competing teams Thursday, as fisherman tallied 19 billfish releases to double the total of any previous day.
Marlin Gull, captained by Richard Howell of Kitty Hawk, racked up three billfish releases, including two white marlins and one sailfish. This gives the Marlin Gull team 375 points and puts them within striking distance of the billfish release leaders with one day left to fish. Read more »

Carnivore Joins Citation on Big Rock Leaderboard
The 52nd Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament reached its midpoint in style Wednesday as Carnivore landed a 528.3-pound blue marlin and grabbed second place in the overall standings.
Carnivore captain Ed Petrilli of Cape Carteret put his team in position to win $217,570 when angler John Parks of Jacksonville reeled in a blue marlin that was originally thought to be too small.
“We weren’t sure how big it was,” said Petrilli. “Then it jumped about 10 times and we got a good look at it. Then we knew it was big enough. It was a fat fish.” Read more »
Big Rock's Third Day has 69 Boats Offshore
As the tournament enters its third day, it’s hard to predict what Wednesday will bring. Conditions are not expected to change until Thursday and most competitors have opted to take a lay day, with 69 boats fishing.
Big Rock competitors had high hopes for a great day Tuesday after Citation set a new Big Rock record with an 883-pound blue marlin caught late Monday by Andy Thomasson of Richmond, Va. Those hopes were dashed by the end of the day when 103-of-156 teams that fished had 11 hook-ups and seven releases. Read more »
