The new Outboard Level started off with a bang in the 2015 Big Rock yielding $324,450 in prize money for 21 entrants.
The largest winner was the very first entry in the tournament-- EZ Boy, owner Van Pierce, with his team’s second place overall win of $202,525. “It was a day I’ll never forget”, commented Van when asked about his win in the 57th Annual Big Rock. “I encourage all outboard owners to get in the game”, he continued.

The Outboard Level is open to outboards only for a total required entry of $3500. Other levels are open to enter as well to “up the payday” for the upcoming 58th Annual tournament held this June 10-18, 2016.

Being first yielded another big winner as the Starling Marine crew, sponsor and owner, David Starling won with their 48.7 lb. dolphin for a purse of $111,250. Starling Marine and Contender Boats were the first sponsors to sign on with the Outboard Level field of sponsors.

In addition to the prize money, the Outboard Level winners will enjoy a prize package that includes Luminox watches donated by Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, TowBoat US memberships, and Yeti products.

After the mandatory Big Rock entry of $2500, the Outboard entry requirements are as follows:

OUTBOARD LEVEL $1000 - Entry in this level is restricted to outboard boats only. No inboards, inboard-outboards, jet powered or airboats permitted. No sailboats permitted. Any hybrid or combination engine boat will not be eligible for prizes in this level. To be eligible for prize money, a blue marlin must weigh at least 400 pounds or measure at least 110”. If no blue marlin are caught, the winners will be determined by release points. If no billfish are caught or released, winners will be determined by the largest gamefish , (yellowfin tuna, dolphin, wahoo). Prize money for the Outboard Level is a guaranteed purse of a minimum of $10,000. Prizes will be divided as follows: 50%/first place, 30%/second place and 20%/ third place or 60/40 for two places. Winners may be polygraphed (See Rule #19). All other Big Rock rules are enforced for this level. Entrants must enter Level I and may enter additional levels as stated in Big Rock rules.
