The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament board of directors made their largest contribution to one organization last night for $200,000 to seed the new Crystal Coast Hospice House project. This announcement was made during the Crystal Coast Hospice House fund raiser held in Morehead City at Bistro-by-the-Sea.

With overwhelming sponsor support, The Big Rock board has been able to donate more than 2 million dollars to worthy projects since 1988 with an average of $100,000 per year.

“The volunteer Big Rock board carefully considers all projects within our county so that the funds donated will greatly benefit its citizens”, commented Tournament Director, Crystal Hesmer. “This house will service not only Carteret County but also reaches our neighboring counties as well for families and patients who need a peaceful place to say goodbye in the final days”, she continued.

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament hosted 156 boats last year with a total purse of 1.6 million dollars.
