The Big Rock Board of Director’s along with Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament Director Donna Hardy announced today a 2014 donation of $23,250.00 to the Carteret General Hospital Foundation Cancer Center. The donation was presented on the grounds of the new $55 million dollar Cancer Center located in Morehead City, NC which is slated for opening in the summer of 2015.
Big Rock Board member and KWLA committee chair Casey Wagner commented, “The reason we do this tournament is to raise money for charity. The event grows bigger every year and it was amazing to celebrate this year’s record of 81 boats”.
Support from the Big Rock Keli Wagner tournament continues to improve the quality of life for cancer patients receiving services such as medical oncology, chemotherapy and hematology. Patients can spend more than 6 hours per visit to the clinic receiving treatments. All funds donated to the clinic are used solely for patients comfort and care.
The 17th Annual Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament was the first year for Tournament Director Donna Hardy. Donna’s enthusiasm and attention to detail continues to set the tournament apart and helped make this year a record setting event. “After a spectacular year, 2015 sponsors are already signing up”, commented Donna Hardy. “They are helping to make the 18th Annual tournament the best yet!”
The Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament is a one-day total release tournament. Lady Anglers enjoy a great day of boating and fishing, and go home knowing they have helped make lives easier for those battling cancer.
Supporting sponsors such as Alexseal, Tassel’s Boutique, and Bailey’s Fine Jewelry get the opportunity to gain valuable exposure during the one day event and through the week of Big Rock. Since 1998, sponsor’s such as these have allowed the tournament to donate more than $203,000 to women specific worthy charities.
