  • Martha’s Mission gets boost from Big Rock Foundation. New freezer to help nonprofit stock up on perishable food for needy

    MOREHEAD CITY — Martha’s Mission Cupboard manager Ginger Wade was tired of dealing with a leaky freezer used to store perishable food that is given to needy families.

    “I came into work one day and there was a big puddle in front of the freezer and I just about started crying,” she said.

  • BIG ROCK Donates $32,000 to East Carteret High Band

    East Carteret High School’ Marching Mariners Band received a surprise Monday, October 3, 2014 when they were presented a $32,000 check from the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.

    The school band had applied to the Big Rock for funds for new school band uniforms and received notification that $10,000 had been approved. When the members of the Big Rock Board of Directors arrived at the school, they surprised the band and its director, Ashley Wright with the entire amount needed, a whopping $32,000!   • KWLA Donates to Cancer Clinic

    The Big Rock Board of Director’s along with Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament Director Donna Hardy announced today a 2014 donation of $23,250.00 to the Carteret General Hospital Foundation Cancer Center. The donation was presented on the grounds of the new $55 million dollar Cancer Center located in Morehead City, NC which is slated for opening in the summer of 2015. Read more »
