The success of the 2010 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, allows the board of directors to once again give back to area charities.
On Wednesday, September 8, 2010, The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament Board of Directors presented $56,000 to 13 worthy organizations. This year’s donation propelled the cumulative contributions since 1988 to $2,121,588.00. Read more »
The North Carolina Ducks Unlimited "Band The Billfish" tournament will be held this weekend, July 29-31 and our own Randy Ramsey will be announcing the fishing as it happens on the Big Rock radio.
Listen to channel 72 for up to the minute notifications of releases and if any blue marlin will be weighed.
All weigh-in's will be held each afternoon beginning around 4:00 at Big Rock weigh station, 405 Evans Street in downtown Morehead City.

The Big Rock Board of Directors is still in the process of investigating the alleged rule violation by the fishing vessel "Citation" with regards to the 883 pound Marlin weighed in on June 14, 2010. The violation centers on whether the Mate on the "Citation" had been timely issued a Coastal Recreational Fishing License required by our Tournament as well as the State of North Carolina. We have been in contact with the Division of Marine Fisheries as well as the NC Attorney General's Office. Read more »
This morning as the final day of the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament got underway, 119-of-156 boats in the competition still have a chance to affect the final standings.
Since 37 boats are fished out, some of our current leaders must wait at the docks to see if their leads can stand up one more day. Many divisional leads were tenuous as the final six hours of fishing began. Read more »
Wet-N-Wild, a boat captained by Tony Ross of Beaufort, experienced a day offshore much like it’s name.
Ross and crew took over third place in the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament when they arrived at the scales Friday afternoon with a 460-pound catch reeled in by Joseph Engleby of Nazareth, Pa. Ross, who grew up in the Big Rock’s backyard always dreamed of fishing in this event. Now he has the Wet-N-Wild team in position to win $144,380. Read more »
The fifth day of competition for the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament has 142 of the 155 eligible boats fishing. That means 36 of Friday’s competitors are fishing their final day and 119 boats will be eligible to fish Saturday.
“I expect a really exciting finish.” said Big Rock president Randy Ramsey. “The captains are getting on the fish. They’re getting on a rhythm of where fish are feeding. You put a big fleet out there and they will have a real opportunity to find them.” Read more »
