Big Rock's Third Day has 69 Boats Offshore
As the tournament enters its third day, it’s hard to predict what Wednesday will bring. Conditions are not expected to change until Thursday and most competitors have opted to take a lay day, with 69 boats fishing.

Second Day at Big Rock
The second day of the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament failed to match the excitement of the first as no blue marlins were brought to the scales and only two were hooked and released following a record-setting Monday.

Second Day Anticipation has 103 Boats Fishing
As the second day of competition for the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament kicks off there is a buzz of excitement in the air. With a record-topping opening day, this year has already written its spot in the books. But, the notion of luck still lingers making teams eager to capitalize on some of it themselves playing a pivotal role in influencing 103 of the Big Rock competitor's decision to fish today. Citation Breaks Big Rock Record on Opening Day
Citation captained by Eric Holmes of Buxton deserves a meritorious citation for the fish he brought to the scales on the first day of the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.
Holmes put the Citation crew into a dominating lead with a tournament record 883-pound blue marlin. The Citation’s monster-sized catch topped the 831-pounder caught by Ron Wallschlager aboard Summertime Blues during the 42nd Big Rock. It instantly earned the Citation crew a $318,750 prize for landing the first blue marlin to weigh more than 500 pounds. Read more »
Update: 156 boats enter 52nd Big Rock
A last-minute registration rush pushed the 52nd annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament to a field of 156 boats and a purse of $1,664,450 as the competition got underway Monday morning.
Five registrations Sunday night and three more Monday morning before the 9 a.m. deadline pushed the total to one more entry than the tournament had last year at the start of fishing. It means a team could win $912,825 if entered in all Blue Marlin levels. Read more »
52nd Big Rock attracts 156 entries as purse reaches $1.6 million
Historically speaking, every Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament develops its own distinctiveness.
In 2007 there were three lead changes in one day. In 2008, the Artemis led wire to wire. Last year, Sea Creature won on the final day of the competition, helping Steve “Creature” Coulter notch his second Big Rock win as a captain. Read more »
Figment captures 13th Keli Wagner Big Rock Lady Angler event
There’s nothing unlucky about number 13 as far as the Figment fishing team is concerned.
Figment, captained by Glynn Loftin of Swansboro, topped a record field of 77 boats Saturday to win the 13th annual Keli Wagner Big Rock Lady Angler Tournament. Figment lady anglers caught and released a blue marlin just 44 minutes into the competition and held on to win in what turned out to be perfect fishing conditions. Read more »

BILLFISH BITE IS HOT!

Morehead City based Bill Collector, owned by Capt. Stephen Draughon of the Big Rock Landing Charters, had a nice foursome on Tuesday with four sailfish releases. The young anglers aboard the Bill Collector are pictured at right.
Another Big Rock Landing charter, Impulse, also recorded over 11 released billfish in two days last week with big catches of wahoo and dolphin.
